Gigaplex™ IT Infrasturcture
The Gigaplex remote screening system is completely decentralized, with no practical limit to the number of lanes across a country that can connect. Gigaplex technology reduces IT network utilization. With lower bandwidth requirements, airports with standard IT infrastructure connections (120 Mb/s) can operate effectively locally, or at viewing stations thousands of miles away.
Staffing Optimization
Distributing image interpretation across the network minimizes officer downtime, improves productivity and reduces staffing requirements for any airport operating on the network. With Gigaplex’s decentralized architecture, small airports with limited flight banks can assign their staff to review images generated by larger airports during their peak times so the large airports can open additional lanes and increase passenger flow. With this flexibility, up to 20% of checkpoint staffing can be optimized to help manage passenger growth.
In the US, 60 percent of airports are small, averaging two-hours of peak checkpoint traffic daily. Using GigaplexTM, security officers at these smaller airports can support larger airports remotely and increase image interpretation proficiency during peak travel hours. Similar efficiencies will be achieved at global airports.
Leveraging Gigaplex™ Remote Screening for Data Collection
Gigaplex uses open architecture to securely view CT images from thousands of miles away. This decentralized approach enables remote baggage viewing stations around the country to be matched to the demand of CT images from airports, so CTs can operate at peak efficiency – “continuous belt operation,” even in high throughput expedited lanes.
Gigaplex uses Covert Node technology to seamlessly insert bag images containing actual and highly realistic threat objects into the stream of images, facilitating continuous testing, training, and improvement of officer performance. This architecture creates a large dataset of images for Threat Image Projection (TIP) use, algorithm development or algorithm certification.
